Airtight sealing of film
Just the right choice and application of our films does not guarantee the proper functioning of the product. Although the film works over the entire surface and provides protection against air leakage and moisture, it is essential to seal gaps, overlaps and connections airtight with specially developed tapes for this purpose.
If an opening is made in the film where a grommet comes through, the film is no longer fully air and watertight. This spot is then a source of energy loss and potential moisture problems. With the use of the right tape, you are sure to prevent energy loss and condensation.
Particularly easy
A special tape in our range is the Tyvek® FlexWrap tape. When penetrations such as a drain pipe, ventilation duct or a connection to a beam need to be made, the Tyvek® FlexWrap tape is an absolute asset. The degree of sealing but above all the time and ease of application makes this tape indispensable for every construction site and bus. The tape can be used indoors in combination with a Vapour Control membrane or a Breathable membrane, but it also seals against weather influences from outside in combination with a Vapour barrier membrane.
For any type of surface
The product consists of stretchy Tyvek® coated with a butyl adhesive. This allows the tape to adhere to virtually all common substrates, and the stretch in the Tyvek® allows the material to be stretched up to 2.5 times. To simplify processing, the butyl layer has a split release layer. Thus, one half can be removed first and only the second layer after fixing.
Fast processing
Unroll the Tyvek® FlexWrap tape around the grommet and cut to the correct length. Keep an inch wider so that the material is not applied too short around the grommet. Fold the FlexWrap tape in half along the split release liner with the white Tyvek® layer folded to the inside. Remove one side of the release liner. Still double-fold the FlexWrap tape by applying the adhesive butyl to the grommet. Press this firmly and make sure there are no air bubbles. Now remove the two halves of the release liner and gradually fold the Tyvek® FlexWrap tape around and press against the film. Due to the stretch in the material, the Tyvek® FlexWrap tape folds itself around the grommet.
