Warm insulation side
Variable vapour control layer

Miofol® Active

Miofol® Active is an airtight intelligent vapour control layer consisting of HDPE Tyvek® with a polymer coating. Miofol® Active has a double function; in winter the membrane has high vapour resistance (vapour controlling) and in summer it has low vapour resistance (breathable). In this case, any moisture can leave the construction inwards. This makes Miofol® Active ideal for use in constructions where the cold side can hardly breathe. So you always have optimum moisture regulation within the construction. For this reason, Miofol® Active is also the most ideal membrane for biobased insulation materials.

Applications

Miofol® Active is used as a self-regulating vapour control layer on the inside (warm side) of wall and roof constructions. Especially in situations where a vapour control or vapour barrier membrane is placed on the outside of the construction, such as on flat roofs, this type of membrane works optimally. The membrane is not suitable for climate class 4 areas, such as bathrooms, saunas, etc.

Installation

Apply Miofol® Active to the warm side of the roof and facade construction. Attach Miofol® Active to the underlying structure directly against the mineral wool using staples. For proper moisture control, place a cavity between the membrane and the wall finish. At horizontal and vertical overlaps, maintain 100 mm overlap. For optimal vapour control, we recommend taping staples, seams and overlaps with VASTR® Non-woven tape. Seal penetrations and connections wind and watertight with VASTR® Butyl tape or Tyvek® FlexWrap tape.
