Polytex® Fassade A2 is a glass fibre fabric with a vapour-open and waterproof coating, designed to protect the insulation layer and the supporting structure behind a partially open façade system. The membrane provides maximum safety for high-rise façades and multi-storey and/or large buildings where higher fire safety requirements apply. Polytex® Fassade A2 is resistant to partial UV exposure, as can occur with a louvre façade or other open-worked outer façades. The membrane is also suitable as a watertight, vapour-permeable roofing membrane beneath a roof with tiles that do not fit perfectly (e.g., traditional old Dutch roof tiles).
Polytex® Fassade A2 must be installed on the outside (the cold side) of the insulation layer. The total area of openings in the outer façade may not exceed 20% of the façade surface area, and each individual opening may not be wider (or higher) than 20 mm. Always fix Polytex® Fassade A2 with stainless steel staples. Attach Polytex® Fassade A2 to battens. Spacing of the battens: centre-to-centre 300 mm vertically, centre-to-centre 600 mm horizontally. Maintain a minimum 20 mm ventilated cavity between the façade cladding and Polytex® Fassade A2. Extend Polytex® Fassade A2 at least 100 mm beyond the lowest batten and seal it to the underlying structure with VASTR® Facade tape. For optimal water tightness and service life, VASTR® Butyl tape should be applied under the batten. Finish façade openings and penetrations with VASTR® Facade tape.
