Alkreflex® 2.5 is a multi-layered insulating membrane, which is ideal for use on walls and roofs. Alkreflex® 2.5 features a core of high-density wool, enclosed within two reflective vapour barrier membranes. Alkreflex® 2.5 combines heat reflection (infra-red) with core insulation to improve the construction’s overall heat resistance. The multi-layered insulation membrane does not feature stitches, which means air and moisture leaks can be avoided.
Alkreflex® 2.5 is used as an insulating vapour barrier layer in roof, facade and floor constructions. The multi-membrane can be used on the inside of roof constructions.
The multi-membrane can be applied in various ways when used in wall constructions: during renovations, as insulation in double walls, as extra insulation, as a thermal bridge barrier and on the cold side of brick or concrete shells. When used for floors, crawl space insulation is installed with an air cavity below the floor. To ensure effective reflection, it is advised to maintain an air cavity of 20 mm on both sides. Alkreflex® 2.5 can be used for both new-build and renovation activities.
Alkreflex® 2.5 must be placed horizontally with a minimum overlap of 50 mm. Use VAST-R® Aluminium tape basic to tape across the whole overlap to ensure an air- and vapour-proof finish. The material must be fixed in place using battens. To ensure effective reflection, it is advised to keep an air cavity of 20 mm on both sides. When Alkreflex® 2.5 is cut to size, always use tape to seal the outer layers around the core.
