For a durable and healthy
Roof construction
During the open construction phase, the membranes of Meuwissen Gerritsen can protect buildings against leaks. Once the roof covering has been placed, the membrane will serve as an insulating layer that stops cold breezes from entering the insulation package. Membranes that are designed for sloping roofs are waterproof and breathable. This means moisture can escape from inside the construction, while the structure and insulation remain dry. The membrane prevents water from leaking inside, when moisture becomes condensation underneath the roof covering or when the wind blows rain or snow under the roof tiles.
Our construction membranes thus play a crucial role in ensuring durable and healthy constructions. Several factors must be taken into account when selecting an appropriate membrane. Temperatures can rise considerably if flat, dark roof tiles or metal roofing is used. In this case, it is important to use membranes that can resist high temperatures.
When installing solar panels, make sure that the membrane under the solar panels is able to remain effective for a long period of time.
In listed buildings, people often decide, sometimes upon request from the Building Inspectorate, to re-use traditional Dutch roof tiles once renovation work has been completed. If regular membranes are used, UV radiation can cause premature degradation because the roof tiles do not offer complete coverage. A black UV-resistant membrane is essential in such cases. When it comes to roofs with a slight slope, it is also important to use membranes with higher resistance against water, while VAST-R sealing tape must be used under battens to ensure a watertight finish.
It can cost a lot of money to replace a roof. That is why we want to help you to select the right membrane in advance, so your roof and insulation will be protected for a long period of time.
