Breathable membrane

Tyvek® Metal

Tyvek® Metal is a breathable cavity membrane that is installed under standing seam metal roofing. The membrane features a PP composite drainage structure that allows condensation that has formed under the roof made of stainless steel, copper or zinc to drain away over the Tyvek® layer. The membrane must be applied to panels of softwood lumber and is provided with an adhesive overlap tape.

Applications

Tyvek® Metal is used as a waterproof, extremely breathable layer on the cold side (usually the outside) of metal roof structures in new construction and renovation.

Installation

Tyvek® Metal is processed on planks of softwood where the membrane is applied horizontally and in a shingle fashion. Roll out Tyvek® Metal so that the self-adhesive adhesive strip is at the top, facing outward. Also fix this membrane first with staples. Then fold up part of the second membrane while removing the adhesive strip from the first membrane. Do this along the entire length of the roof and press the membrane firmly at the location of the adhesive strip. The maximum free span is 1200 mm. Process the black composite drainage structure towards the roofing.
