Polytex® XTR is an extremely strong, four-layer roof and façade membrane. This watertight, vapour-open membrane is composed of two layers of polypropylene, with the functional breathable microporous film and woven reinforcement in between for extra tear and tensile resistance. Polytex® XTR protects the structure against wind and rain while allowing potential moisture vapour to escape to the outside through the Polytex® XTR.

Polytex® XTR is used as a watertight, vapour-open layer on the cold side (usually the outside) of roof and façade constructions in both new-build and renovation projects. Polytex® XTR can be applied in roofs and façades directly on both rigid and soft substrates.
The membrane is installed in a tile-like manner in the direction of the prevailing wind. For roof pitches greater than 25°, the horizontal overlaps must be at least 100 mm, for roof pitches between 15° and 25° at least 150 mm, and for roof pitches between 10° and 15° at least 200 mm. For roof pitches below 25°, VASTR® Nail Sealing Tape must be applied and the overlap must be bonded using the integrated adhesive strip or VASTR® Spunbond Tape. Vertical overlaps must have a width of at least 150 mm and no more than 200 mm, with the joint always positioned under a batten. The membrane is fixed to the structure with stainless steel staples, after which the dust battens are applied over the staples. When used with façade cladding, a clamping batten is placed over the staples on the stud. At a corner, the membrane is folded around to the next stud and fixed there with staples and, if necessary, a clamping batten.
