Tyvek UV Facade

Tyvek® UV Facade is a watertight and extremely breathable 2-layer non-woven membrane, which is made of HDPE and polypropylene, and is based on Tyvek® Dupont™ technology. The membrane has been specially developed as protective, permeable and watertight membrane for constructions with a permanent UV load, like under roof tiles that do not offer complete protection (e.g., traditional Dutch roof tiles). The maximum opening between construction components is 30 mm. Tyvek® UV Facade has passed the 5000-hour test for UV load and artificial aging. Tyvek® UV Facade protects constructions and makes sure that insulation material is perfectly airtight. Tyvek® UV Facade is also available with an integrated adhesive strip: Tyvek® UV Facade Plus.

Applications

Tyvek® UV Facade is used as a watertight and extremely permeable layer on the cold side of constructions. This membrane is completely watertight and can thus also be applied directly to hard surfaces (like roof boarding). Tyvek® UV Facade is used during new-build projects as well as renovation activities.

Processing

Tyvek® UV Facade should be placed in the same way as roof tiles, whereby the horizontal overlap must be at least 150 mm. Use Tyvek® Facade tape to tape over staples and overlaps. Tyvek® UV Facade is fixed to constructions using stainless steel staples, and battens are then placed over the staples. VAST-R® Nail-proof tape must be placed under the battens to make sure that the holes produced by screws have a watertight finish. Tyvek® UV Facade must be placed as such that the black side faces outwards. When used together with facade panels, battens must cover the staples on jamb sections. When working around corners, the membrane must be continued to the next jamb section, where it can be fixed in place using staples and possibly a batten. VAST-R® Butyl tape must be placed under the battens to create an effective water barrier, and to extend the lifespan.
